If you don’t know yet, that crazy guy Tony Kummer over at Said at Southern, has come up with a blogging tournament of sorts, he is calling it Said at Southern Blog Madness. Tony chose what he saw as the best 30 blogs as of late and had people vote for their favorites. I was honestly surprised that Elect Exiles made the list. This is kind of ridiculous, but the tournament is set up by regions and each of the blogs were seeded just like the NCAA Basketball Tournament that is going on right now.
Somehow, Elect Exiles made it to the second round of the tournament, but now we are up against some pretty stiff competition (two great blogs in particular: Kingdom People and Christ and Pop Culture). So if you would like to make Elect Exiles a Cinderella story in the blog madness, head on over to Said at Southern and vote for our blog. You can follow the link above; we are in the West Division!
Honestly this competition is pretty silly and I have no hope that we can make it further than we have already. But, if we give a decent showing, there is the possibility more people will be turned on to our blog and I really think that there are some great things being addressed here and I hope that more people are blessed by the articles found here.
So if this blog has encouraged you to glory more in Christ or has challenged you to think more biblically on a given issue, please by all means vote for us in the Said at Southern Blog Madness!
At some point this week, I will try to link to our most popular posts as well as some of my personal favorites.
Double post . . . no, make it a three pointer! Three in one day. How ’bout that?
I voted and asked a couple of ladies at work to vote. They read every once in a while. But, we need some help if we’re going to survive this round.
One of the three I wrote a while back and this post was just a shameless plea for votes. And the post on Easter was much shorter than I normally write!
Yeah we need some help. I know the whole thing is kinda silly but I was pleasantly surprised we made it this far.
Are we on Said at Southeastern? You should look into that.
I filled out a form to be linked to S@SE, so I should hear back from them soon . . .
While we’re waiting, you can add a single blog post to their ‘well said’ section by filling out a form on their site (it is down at the bottom of the main page). You can pick out your favorite one from our blog.
drew,
i think this blog is the only blog actually advertising the competition. we’re chumps.

Actually several others have advertised it. But either way, we are big time underdogs!
I don’t care if people vote for us or not, but as silly as the blog madness is, it does get open up our blog for wider exposure.
Are probably right, we are chumps!
Hey guys, I will say this . . . I don’t know if the S@S thing has anything to do with it, but here are a few recent stats for EE:
1) Yesterday, we set the mark for ‘best day ever’ @ EE with 269 individual visits.
2) Today’s hit counts will likely pass 269 easily.
3) With 6 days to go, the month of March has easily been our best month for readers. We have published a few less than we did in November, but have about 1,100 more hits already in March than we had in November.
4) Our stats have sky-rocketed in the last 3 weeks.
Now, before we get big-headed and fall down on our faces while walking due to the top-heavy-ness, keep in mind the Pyromaniacs ecclipse our all-time stats per week, probably. :)
Anyway, even if S@S has helped us a little, EE will only grow if we continue to add content that honors our Savior both in word and in the reason we are blogging. So, to our readers, we resolve to never get big heads. :)
Yeah I have noticed that too. I am glad to see it as my hope is that our blogging would point people toward Christ.
Our blog is still a little blip on the radar screen of blogs, but nonetheless we would do well not to get arrogant about our growth of late.
I was wondering a couple of things about the blog today though. I love the changes you have made to all the posts, it looks much better.
Here is what I was wondering: Could we somehow get http://www.electexiles.com? Or http://electexiles.com? I checked, both links are for some Christian band of some kind. They haven’t posted since April of last year. I suppose there is no way to nab that address. It would be nice not to have wordpress on the end of our address. I really don’t know anything about how all this stuff works.
I accidentally went to that band’s website last week. Once a domain is taken, it cannot be used again until someone permanently deletes the first one and makes it available again. You have to buy it also.
I think I’ll register EE at Blogger also and place a link on it to here just in case a few readers get confused and search for us there.
